The famous Kuari Pass trek (also known as Lord Curzon’s trail) is one you’d definitely want to tick off your checklist, if you’re a beginner who’s willing to explore the mountains. The Kuari Pass offers spellbound views of the imposing Himalayas. Tucked in the Garhwal Himalaya and a short distance from a skiing destination called Auli, Kuari Pass Trek is ideal for beginners and those who wish to experience what it is like to live amidst
the snow. The trek also ensures to open up gateways for the unexplored to be witnessed, the rural culture to be seen and the simple living to be experienced.

The journey begins from Haridwar, from where a long drive of about 275kms brings us to Joshimath. Post briefings of the week ahead, we reach Joshimath around dinner time and call it a night in a comfortable hotel. The next morning, after grabbing a heavy & delicious breakfast – we left for Dhak, which after trekking further led us to set up camp for the night at a small settlement called Guling. Another night spent relaxing and preparing for the upcoming days. The weather here was pleasant, and as it got darker at night, the stars shone brighter than ever. If you’re lucky, you might even be able to catch a couple of satellites as they zip through the night sky. The following morning we close up camp and started our trek towards Tali Camp, where we arrived around lunch time. Post a scrumptious lunch, we bonded with each other as well as our camp leaders, listening to
everyone’s stories with a mug of coffee for the entire evening.

After a peaceful night’s sleep, we took off to the Kuari Pass trek the morning after. We hiked through forests and meadows, the trek feeling almost perfect! As we moved forward, various different environments passed by us, almost like a movie! Unfortunately, it was time to begin our descent to Dhak the next morning, post a heavy breakfast needed for the energy. A good long 9km hike to Dhak, after which a 13km drive brought us back to Joshimath. An incredible 5 days spent in the Himalayas, left us all asking for more. It was our last dinner together as a team, and we cherished it by sitting around the bonfire and sharing experiences & anecdotes. The next day, we drove back to Haridwar and bid our final goodbyes. This trek taught me so many things, and pushed me out of my comfort zone. A highly recommended trek for amateur trekkers!

Much love to the Goalpines team for guiding & watching out for us every step of the way. I simply cannot stop coming back!
