Overview

At a height of 12,500 feet, it is the highest point in the area. Kedarkantha is one of the major Himalayan range’s beautiful peaks. Kedarkantha is one of the most popular winter treks, attracting hikers and trekkers from all over the country. It is suitable for both beginners and experienced. This four-night, five-day walk was designed with the needs of those who enjoy both the peace and the thrill that nature, with its unexpected pathways and magical valleys, can provide. Some of the ranges visible from the top are the Blackpeak, Swargarohini, Gangotri, and Yamunotri ranges, and are popular because of the breathtaking vista of snow-capped mountains that it provides after completing the journey. The summit’s name translates to “Lord Shiva’s throat,” and it has been the focus of numerous fantastic stories and traditions about Lord Shiva. The local tales and folklore only add to its allure and enhance the whole experience. On our long weekend excursion to Kedarkantha, we leave Dehradun and travel to Sankri, a tiny town that serves as the base camp for this 20-kilometer walk. Before retiring to bed for the night, we will spend a night at our allocated homestay or hotel, introducing ourselves and exchanging tales.

Trek Itinerary

At 6:00 a.m., the group will gather at the pickup location. We'll travel to Sankri, which serves as the trek's beginning point. Arrive at Sankri in the evening. Following arrival assistance, our Trek leader and Support personnel will be introduced. After checking into our chosen hotel/homestay, you have the rest of the day free to unwind and prepare for the voyage ahead. Dinner will be given in the evening, followed by a stay in Sankri Village for the night.

At 6:00 a.m., the day will begin with morning tea. After that, we'll have breakfast and the Trek Leader will give us a briefing. After that, we'll begin our journey in the Dense Pine Forest. The day's first checkpoint will be at Juda Ka Taal Campsite, which is lower in elevation than the Taal itself. We'll have lunch when we get to Juda Ka Taal Campsite. The remainder of the day is yours to do as you like. In the evening, dinner will be given, followed by an overnight stay at Juda Ka Taal Campsite.

A path beyond Juda Ka Talab leads further into the thick pine trees. You will eventually arrive to a meadow studded with shepherd's cottages if you continue trekking. You will reach the day's target, Kedarkantha base camp, after rising an additional thousand feet. Approximately 1-2 hours are required to accomplish this portion of the walk. The path from Juda Ka Talab to base camp is breathtakingly lovely. It is the ideal spot for photographers and wildlife enthusiasts! As a result of a lack of insulation, the base camp is cooler than the peak. Even from the base camp, the iconic peaks of Uttarakhand are clearly visible, making it an ideal camping location.

We'll finally start our ascent to Kedarkantha Peak. We'll get up at 2:00 a.m. since we'll need to get going early. Following that, the party will go to the Kedarkantha Summit. We'll enjoy the view from the top after reaching the mountain, as well as see the lovely dawn. We'll return to the Kedarkantha Base Camp shortly after that. Lunch will be served at the campground after you arrive. We'll hold a farewell party because it's our last night at the campground. Hargaon Campsite is where you'll spend the night.

We'll leave Hargaon Campsite after an early morning meal and go down to Sankri Village. We'll stop and clean up at our allocated hotel when we arrive in Sankri, and lunch will be served. We'll head for Dehradun shortly after that. (Arrive at Dehradun late in the evening.) The gang will disband here and go their own ways, their hearts full with happiness and memories.
