Overview
One of the best ways to relax and have fun is to go trekking in the Garhwal Himalayas. One of the most beautiful places to hike around here is Kedartal, a glacier lake that is emerald blue and situated at an elevation of roughly 15580 feet.
Even though the trip there is just three days long, it is full of excitement. You may pay your respects at Gangotri Temple, one of Hinduism’s greatest sacred locations, and take part in an evening aarti before beginning your walk to Kedartal.
This day should also be spent to adjust to the decreased oxygen levels and cooler temperatures at higher altitudes.
The sulphur hot springs at Gangnani will soothe you from the inside out and get you ready for the hike. The initial part of the trek to Kedartal in Uttarakhand is fascinating and difficult since you’ll be trekking on curvy trails with cliffside gorges on each side.
You may go more easily from Bhoj Kharak to Kedar Kharak’s last resting place by way of verdant fields. Brown bears, bharals, and gorals are among the high-altitude animals to be on the lookout for.
Following a series of challenging ascents to a ridge, the Kedartal hiking excursion descends to a pool of water.
Trek Itinerary
The Kedartal trek's beginning location is in Gangotri, Uttarakhand, is where your adventure starts after Dehradun. You must be at Gangotri by 3 p.m. for the debriefing and team introductions. Visit the Holy Temple, stroll among the pines, shop at the neighbourhood market, strike up a conversation with a Sadhu, explore the cavern under the earth, and have a delicious lunch. You'll be staying the night at a guest house.
After a hearty breakfast, the trip departs from Gangotri. You rise significantly for the day while the Kedar Ganga doggedly follows you on your left. The young pines vanish as you ascend, to be replaced by a dense forest of birch trees. This leads to our first campground, Bhoj Kharak. Purple rhododendrons wave in the distance, while birch trees provide much-needed shelter. Thalaysagar's brilliantly angular façade tempts you to approach from a distance in order to learn what awaits you on Day 3. The last challenge of the day is The Spider Wall, a 60-degree slab of rock with barely enough foothold to get you to the other end. At Bhoj Kharak, you will spend the night in a camp.
It's a special day today. You'll see that a 100-meter section of the old track was destroyed by a landslide a few years ago, so it's up to us to discover a another route across the slope. Following that, you will discover a safe path heading down to the Kedar Gunga riverbed. You must partially cross this riverbed before returning to level ground on the other side, which now leads to your next campsite, Kedar Kharak. A wonderfully gorgeous campground is tucked between the Drigubanth, Thalaysagar, and Jogin 3 hills. Blue sheep flocks often pass through Kedar Kharak.
A trek up three hills formed completely of deposited boulders, with the odd gravel road running between them, is required to reach the beautiful Kedar Tal. Rock towers that are scattered around the area serve as trail markers, or "cairns." After ascending the two ridges, you get a glimpse of the last peak and wonder what vistas are beyond it. Kedar Tal Lake is seen below after climbing the third peak as a frozen emerald. Your problems seem trivial in comparison to the stunning vistas of Thalaysagar and other peaks.
The difficult part is over, and we're headed home now! The path to Gangotri is almost all downhill when compared to the distance travelled. You'll be welcomed back to Gangotri with a warm, comfortable accommodation and the chance to see the well-known aarti. The next morning, go out early for your home.
Leave till tea time. If you have a reservation with us, the car will pick you up from Gangotri and drop you off in Dehradun in the evening.
